Thermal Kinetic Energy Storage System

GENERATOR CELL

Advanced thermal and kinetic energy storage system....

Technology

Electrical power for Black Kestrel experimental aircraft is provided by our self developed Thermo-magnetic Flywheel Generator Cell (TFGC) or simply Generator Cell.

These generators produce electrical power by storing thermal and kinetic energy which is then converted into electrical energy when power is required from the cells.

Generator Cell Operation

The cells are charged up before flight by sending an external electrical power source to the generators.

The heat cores are electrically heated up to over 700 degress celsius, once the cores are at working temperature the flywheels are spun up to high speed at about 50,000 rpm.

Once the correct flywheel speed and heat core temperature is reached electric power to the cells stops and the cells are charged and ready for use.

Electric Power

Electric power is supplied from a three phase Permanent Magnet Alternator (PMA) producing an alternating current (AC) which is converted into a direct current (DC).

A voltage regulator maintains a constant DC voltage output from the PMA.

The electric power from the cells charges on board batteries located in the wings, the batteries then provides power to the aircrafts engines and other electrical systems.

Other Generator Cell applications

Generator Cells are ideally suited as a renewable and sustainable energy storage system that can provide better storage capacity and longer life span than many existing energy storage systems.

Generator Cells can be modified to use a radioisotope general propose heat source in place of the heating core. These modified cells can be used as Radioisotope Thermal Generators (RTG) for use on deep space and long duration spacecraft.
